Before vibe coding (which is really pure-LLM coding), there was pure-Google coding. The problem of some people not being familiar with their tools has always been existed to some degree.
I'm an experience dev and have dipped my toe in vibe coding and am not impressed. I asked it to change test assertion library to an alternative and it spent ages getting nowhere. It tried changing the code under test, even though I told it exactly what needed to be done and not to do what it did. I gave up and did things manually. It's like AI creates a montage of what it thinks the solution should look like and then hacks the hell out of it to get it working. Not once does it question if it's doing the right thing
Vibe coding (generative AI) is like 3d printers. There`s hype, there`s companies making money on tools but noone ever really built anything amazing with it and it cant replace real production processes. But the possibilities it gives you to tinker with things are endless.
