I've used them both and I think you nailed it that it depends on what the technical ability and need of the user is. If you're looking to build agent systems it's N8N all day!
You started with a question for which one ia better. But in the end you just left saying "which one are you using".
Zapier is much more expensive to do anything beyond very simple syncs, definitely worth learning some basic API/JSON skills & using N8N
