How is ML/AI implemented in your company?

Hi,

I am currently working as a full time SWE. I generally get to work with data/build solutions using data but I don't have any official ML/Data science title or background. Ideally, I'd like to be able to start making more intelligent decisions using that data and that's why I am interested on machine learning.

Ideally, I'd like to write production systems that leverage models that I can build and understand end to end but after some research, I am not sure if such jobs exist today or if teams are usually split between modelling team (people that only train and analyze models) and SWE teams (people that take such models and focus on deploying them on production).

My current company is using that model of development, so I might need to leave to be able to do what I want. I imagine startups work that way, but I am looking for some stability.
