He is taking on Google 😮😮 #startup #ai #perplexity
This IITian is taking on Google, with his AI startup Perplexity.
Aravind Srinivas studied engineering at IIT Madras before getting a PhD in computer science from the University of Berkley.
And before starting Perplexity, Arvind worked at Google’s Deepmind and OpenAI, which is where his love for ‘search’ started.
Arvind was convinced that the future of search would be to give the users answers to their questions, not a bunch of links.
To make it happen, he started Perplexity.
He got together a great team that wanted to work on the future of search and cold-emailed two potential investors, who invested 3.1 Million dollars just on the idea.
Since its launch, Perplexity has taken off and is today being used by over 10 Million monthly users.
The company is backed by investors like Jeff Bezos and Nvidia, who have put in over 100 Million dollars, valuing the company at 520 Million dollars.

Finally a guy with real tech knowledge.
I can't say about replacing Google, but it is definitely a better tool when looking for answers.
Perplexity is so damn cool. Beautiful structure, understands nuances, and the best part is that it doesn’t sound like any other detectable ai content producer

Literally just an OpenAI wrapper
